One of my favorite recipes for cooler weather is a hearty chili.
I usually make a really big pot, so we can eat some and then freeze some for later.
This recipe is always a hit with my family, and I love how versatile it is - you can serve it over corn chips, hot dogs, rice, etc.
Once you see how simple it is, I'm sure you'll love it, too!

Hearty Chili Recipe
Ingredients:
1 Large (15 ounce) Can Diced Tomatoes
1 8 Ounce Can Tomato Sauce
1 15 Ounce Can of Beans (your choice - I use butter beans)
2lbs Browned Ground Beef(you could sub turkey or venison for a lighter version)
2 Tablespoons Chili Powder
2 Tablespoons Salt
2 Tablespoons Garlic Powder
1/2 Diced White Onion
1 Teaspoon Red Pepper Flakes
Directions:
1. Combine all Ingredients In Stew Pot.
2. Let simmer for several hours on low heat.
3. Serve with desired base (corn chips, rice, etc.), and top with shredded cheese.

I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as my family does.
Have a happy week!

What is the approximate # of servings for this recipe Heather?
ReplyDeleteFor this recipe, I would say 8-10.... maybe more (depending on portion size). I always double and freeze for later. It is yummy on a cold night!
DeleteYum! We love to make chili and eat it while we watch football. I make a HUGE pot and our friends and family come and go throughout the day. Everyone enjoys helping themselves to chili and watching the game!
ReplyDeleteOooh! Yes! We do, too! Chili is a perfect game day dish.... :)
