Sweet Springtime

Aaaahhh.. I am becoming more blissfully aware each day that spring is upon us.

The birdsong in the air, the sun on my face, and the splash of the mud puddle when my little one bounces through the yard.  Warm, wonderful weather is upon us.

The potatoes that we planted at the end of winter have stretched their heads through the soil and into the cool, breezy wind.

Fingers crossed, the potato towers we made will be full of potatoes come harvest time.

And, the strawberry plants that were put down last year have reappeared.  They're soaking up the goodness left from our recent rains.

The mint is peeking through the weeds (I have so many to tend to!)... I'll just let the mint do its job.  Mint is "extremely invasive", says my neighbor.

See?  My favorite sitting spot is even covered in weeds.  They waste no time showing their faces after spring arrives.

They're stretching for the green, murky water that fills the koi pond.  Another thing added on our warm weather to do list.

Thistle is so deceiving.  So pretty at the start of spring, and in a few weeks, it'll be a menace.

The girls are hard at work.... trying to find anything that wiggles the slightest bit.

“She turned to the sunlight
    And shook her yellow head,
And whispered to her neighbor:
    "Winter is dead.”
― A.A. Milne

Enjoy spring in your corner of the world!

  1. Totally fabulous post...such great pictures proving once and for all the rumor is NOT TRUE- "Heather did not run off to never-never land of forever vacation..she has been taking care of business at Stringtown Home" Not to worry excessively over those things we call WEEDS. Just look at the WEED FLOWERS you have for little bouquets and bottles to line your window sills or table decorations to impress your family when they gather at your HOMESTEAD. Btw I have a system for taking care of those weeds...I pull weeds in 20 minute shifts..somehow IT WORKS...THEY DON'T WIN!
