Cheese & Crackers: "A Trash to Treasure Story"

You've heard them all...

can't punch her way out of a paper sack...

the cheese slid off her cracker...

can't pour water out of a boot with the instructions on the heel...

Let me tell ya.  I don't know who the old timers were talking about when they came up with those sayings, but I feel their pain.

I have had a definite "cheese slid off my cracker" kind of weekend.

The milk was being put in the cabinet, while the cereal got stuck in the fridge...

I locked the babysitter and my daughter out of the house, when I ran a pizza home for them to eat.

And, I tossed a check in the trash.... right in the bottom of a trash can, that I layered under coffee grounds, banana peels, etc.

But, as I was trudging through the nasty trash, trying fervently to find that check, I uncovered a coffee can.

Why on earth do we toss so much in the trash?

That's a question for another day, I suppose.  I have watched so many episodes of Hoarders, that I fear holding on to anything that isn't a necessity; but, you can be too wasteful... I'm trying to find a happy medium.

Back to the coffee can.

I love receiving a gift in a sweet package... and, it is infuriating to try to find gift packaging at a reasonable price, that doesn't look trashy.

This is pretty self explanatory...
find bits and pieces of pretty stuff around your house...

Grab some Mod Podge, and hot glue...

Embellish it, tuck a present inside, use it for utensils, pens and pencils, etc...

The possibilities are endless... and, I have to admit, sitting a while to peel the glue off of my fingers was a nice reprieve from finding the cheese to put back on my crackers....

Go dig in the trash!  You never know what you'll find!

  3. Love the music-decorated coffee can!
I'm a first-time visitor here, came over from Brenda's Cozy House. If you have the info about where you got Ms. Sun, I would love to have it if it is a place that can be ordered. I would love to have one of those on the side of my garage.
How kind you were to send that to Brenda!!
    thanks -

    2. Thank you for the link!! I have enjoyed looking through this site. We had a store that sold Talavera Pottery that unfortunately left our area last year. I always enjoyed going there and browsing her happy pottery pieces.

    3. Sure! I LOVE Talavera Pottery... I have a wall behind a patio in my garden (a separate garage) that I hope to cover in bright pieces, eventually - make a collage for the wall on that patio. Its so cheerful!

  4. I feel your pain. I once threw a tooth of mine which had broken from a post my dentist had done (at a pretty high cost I might add) in the trash and searched and searched through all kinds of yucky stuff. Found it only to lose it again the very next day down the bathroom sink! Aghhhhhhhhh. Just visited Brenda over at "A Cozy Little House". The Miss Sun you so lovingly replaced for her is absolutely beautiful!! May you be blessed for such a thoughtful act of kindness.
